We help families handle changes that come with dementia so they have less stress, more confidence & maintain deeper connections throughout the process

NO ONE TALKS ABOUT HOW HARD THIS PART CAN BE

Aging in place can be a beautiful thing—there’s truly no place like home.

And caring for a loved one brings deep meaning and purpose. But no one really prepares you for the physical and emotional challenges that come with supporting someone who’s living with memory or thinking changes. And let’s be honest—while your medical provider may care deeply, they often don’t have the answers or ongoing support you truly need.

Safety is becoming a worry

MAYBE YOU’VE FOUND

Has your love one left a pot left boiling on the stove or left doors unlocked at night?

Moments like these can leave you scared, frustrated, and unsure what to do next. You’re not alone—many families living with dementia face these same challenges. We see how hard you’re trying to keep everyone safe while protecting your loved one’s dignity. With the right support, tools, and strategies, you can make home life safer and less stressful. And you won’t have to do it alone—we’ll be guiding you every step of the way.

Do you miss the person you used to know?

Maybe conversations feel different now, and sometimes you don’t know what to say—or how to help. These moments can feel isolating, but connection is still possible. With the right approach, you can find new ways to share comfort, laughter, and meaning in everyday life.

We’ll show you how to build routines and communication strategies that bring more calm, confidence, and moments of genuine connection—for both of you.

Connection Feels Harder to Find

Interests Starting to Fade

Maybe your loved one used to love gardening, baking, or watching their favorite shows—but now they just don’t seem interested.

man lack of interest

It’s hard to know if it’s the dementia, depression, or simply part of the disease’s progression. Either way, it can leave you feeling helpless and unsure how to re-engage them.

With the right insight and support, you can spark moments of enjoyment and purpose again—often in small, meaningful ways

We’ll help you discover what still matters most to your loved one and create activities that feel doable, familiar, and rewarding.

It’s hard watching your loved one change, but finding support doesn’t have to be.

You are NOT alone…Help is here for you.

With the Mind In Motion Program, we focus on three essential areas that help families face cognitive changes with confidence and clarity. Each one is designed to support both the person living with dementia and their care partner—because success comes from working together.

At Creative Concepts in Occupational Therapy, we believe that people living with dementia—and the families who love them—can still thrive, even after a life-changing diagnosis. Here’s how we help:

strength and flexibility

Building a Safer, More Independent Life

Changes in thinking and memory often affect movement, balance, and safety. That’s why we integrate physical strength and flexibility into every care plan. By keeping the body strong, we help:

  • Prevent falls and injuries

  • Make daily activities like bathing, dressing, and moving around easier

  • Support energy and stamina for both the person with dementia and their care partner

When the body stays active, confidence grows, and daily life feels more manageable.

abilities and readiness

Understanding the Whole Picture

Every family’s situation is different. To provide the right support, we first assess:

  • The current abilities of the person with cognitive challenges—what they can do independently, what they need help with & if they're able to learn

  • The readiness and capacity of the care partner—how confident and supported they feel in daily caregiving tasks

This dual focus ensures strategies are realistic and effective. We never hand you a “cookie-cutter” plan. Instead, we create solutions that match your loved one’s abilities and your caregiving capacity—so success feels achievable, not overwhelming.

roadmap for success

Clear Guidance for Today & Tomorrow

Uncertainty is one of the hardest parts of dementia care. Families often ask: What should we expect? What do we do next?

That’s why Mind In Motion provides a personalized roadmap that:

  • Builds on strengths and interests to keep life meaningful.

  • Offers practical strategies for current challenges, whether the focus is restoring lost skills or compensating for them.

  • Prepares you for what’s ahead, step by step

  • Reduces stress by turning unknowns into a clear, manageable plan

Meet Debra Battistella

Your cognitive & dementia care specialist serving Sun City Center, FL &

the South Shore area of Hillsborough County.

I know all too well the challenges that people with cognitive changes and their loved ones face when searching for a provider who truly understands, knows how to address specific problems, and genuinely cares about real outcomes.

As an advocate for my own family members who needed very specific care, I discovered how severely our healthcare system falls short—especially in quality rehabilitation and care. Cookie-cutter, piecemeal approaches simply do not work. Yet, far too often, that’s exactly what people are offered.

’ll never forget speaking with so-called “specialists” who told me they did not work with occupational therapists—while still calling their approach “thorough.” I was stunned. Even more troubling, I learned long ago that many traditional therapy programs leave out interventions backed by solid scientific evidence. I discovered this more than 20 years ago… and even now, too many clinicians are still not using comprehensive approaches to care-whether rehabilitative or compensatory.

Navigating a broken system for my loved ones taught me one thing: if people with cognitive challenges & dementia are going to live life to their fullest—doing the things that matter most to them—someone has to step up.

That’s why I created The Mind In Motion Program and launched Creative Concepts in Occupational Therapy—to bring compassionate, evidence-based care right into your community.

I invite you to schedule a free consultation below. Let’s talk about what matters most to you—and how we can get you there.
